In this session, we will talk about Blueprint as an Effective Assessment tool plan. Before starting, I want you to consider yourself in the following scenario. You are preparing for the end of the course exam. You want to be sure that your students have mastered the important material from the course. And you have a pack of 200 multiple choice questions. On the subject topics, from a collaborative project with other course instructors. Okay, now you need to think critically. You have a question bank, contains 200 multiple choice questions on your subject topics. How to determine which questions to use in your exam? To ensure your test is the high quality, reliable and defensible indicator of your student's knowledge. Creating a test Blueprint will help you to plan which questions to include in your exam. And ensure that it adequately assesses the learning objectives of the course. An ideal test Blueprint defines the knowledge and skills you want to assess. Not only that, it will enable you to build a purpose-driven, successful assessment. By areas where your question pool may be lacking. As we all know, assessment plays a major role in higher education. By providing a way to monitor students' progress toward the learning outcomes that we are expecting them to achieve. Another fact. When we speak to undergraduate students after any exam, not in frequency we hear them complaining? During the paper, time was not enough to write. All questions were from few topics only. No questions from many other topics. Questions were too vague. We don't know what to write. We don't know what to cut. And sometimes even they haven't taught us these before. Even in the practical exam, we hear them complaining. I had never seen this case before. They never taught us how to do this and so on. This happened because in the traditional assessment system, in most colleges, position paper is set by one teacher or examiner. A practical examination is conducted by some other teacher. And of course, without any coordination. And even they are not aligned to the course objectives most of the times. Often the content of what to assess is left to the decision of the examiners. To ensure that assessment is consistent with the course objectives and address truly important learning outcomes in a balanced manner, it's important that assessment to be developed according to a world-fold art plan.
